TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

You need to submit TWO copies of your film when you hand it in:

  • A playable DVD AND
  • A high quality screening copy of the film.

The screening copy can either be a tape copy on MiniDV, DV, DV Cam, HDV or SP Betacam.
or
A high quality, full resolution data file, a .avi or a .mov file delivered on a disc or harddrive.

If you put your film back onto tape, please put 10 seconds of black at the beginning of your master tape. It is not possible to capture the first few seconds of a tape and you'll loose the beginning of your film if you don't add at least 10 seconds of black (or a countdown or a slate).

NOTE

If you would like your tapes returned to you after the festival, please provide us with a self-addressed envelope and enough stamps to ensure your tape’s return. Otherwise, tapes and HDDs will be available for pickup on the night of the screening.

SCORING

Points will be awarded for including the specified items in the films, and you will have to
seek them out – Scavenger Hunt style. You can include the items anyway you like, your character
can walk past one, or you can set a scene at a location, whatever fits your story best.

Additional points are also up for grabs if you use the theme.
You don’t have to use the theme, but more points are available to you if you do.

Be playful and creative! We want to see Canberra in new and interesting ways.
