Marisa Martin is a filmmaker based in Canberra. After graduating from the University of Canberra with a communications degree in Media/Multimedia production in 2003, rather than get a job she decided to forge her own path and start her own business. Starting with a few award winning shorts, corporate and commercial work followed. Building her name by running local film events, such as the short::seasons film festival (2001 - 2007), and the Canberra Short Film Festival (2003 - 2007). This led to being asked by the ACT Government to design them a film event in 2004 to showcase the filmmakers of Canberra - and Lights! Canberra! Action! was born. Marisa has since passed all but the last event on to other groups, so as to leave time to focus on production. She gets asked a lot about the name Enemies of Reality. It comes from a film by Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg - eXistenZ. The film is about people who play total immersion video games, where people who prefer to live in the game world are known as enemies of reality. The phrase was too poetic and described exactly the approach Marisa takes with her work - reality is for schmucks, let's live in a world of our own making! Marisa is inspired by working with other artists and all projects done by EoR Media have hand picked teams for the specific task. Currently building a skill base in various styles of animation, Marisa is working with several other artists who compliment her skill set on these projects. |
